Artist Statement
My practice varies from what I’m going through. My work has evolved to be emotionally charged. Sourced from personal experiences or what’s going through and what’s going on in the world around me. I’m currently working in Fashion storytelling, Fashion Design, Fashion Photography, Fashion Film, Installation art, Performance art, and Designed objects.
After attending The School of The Art Institute of Chicago on a Merit Scholarship, their interdisciplinary studies allowed me to freely explore different mediums. I entered in 2017 with a background in Painting and Fashion Design.
While learning Couture techniques in fashion under Liat Smestad, Sharon Shoji, and Sandra Adams. I learned the importance of Proper documentation, and the only way to properly document is to learn to do it yourself. I spent a years learning Photography and lighting from Lewis Toby, which has led me down the road of exploratory Fashion Photography and film, and the creation on my own Fashion House, Matthew D. Kingsley and founder of nonprofit, Arté Izta.
